Day 1 Rome

So can I start off by saying that yesterday’s travelling day was an emotional one! My heavy ass suitcase (39lbs) weighed less than the weight I’ve recently lost (50 lbs) and when I realized that I almost cried! Wow such a great accomplishment. Enough about that!

Rome what a beautiful city but full of crazy ass drivers!  Glad we are doing this on a tour!  Today was our first full day of adventure. Wake up call at 6am, breakfast at 6:30 and on the bus to Vatican City by 7:15am.  Now I have a lot of respect for the beauty of the Vatican, the Sistine chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica but Mom and I chose to stay outside and wander the streets with some other folks that were knowledgeable and took us to the delightful fountain of the four rivers in a really wonderful square called Piazza Navona. Forgive my spelling if I have that wrong.  We also saw the Castel Sant Angelo was pretty cool as well. 

After that we went to the Pantheon in the piazza de la rotunda. Was interesting to see that kind of architecture still standing after so many years.  We stopped into another church just to have a peak but honestly the churches in Quebec are just as beautiful and way less people!

After we got back with the other folks that had gone to the Vatican and St Peter’s etc we got back on our coach and headed through the city to the coliseum.  There we simply walked around the outside, took some pictures and got some fabulous insight from Simoni our tour guide for the day. 

He was smart funny and not hard on the eyes at all.

This afternoon after a brief rest in the room while I write this and Mom FaceTimes with her love ( my Dad)  we will hop back on our coach and head to explore some more.....chat in a few hours!
